Welcome to the Homepage for the Australian Institute of Eastern Music. Founded in 1985, the Institute supports, promotes and develops the rich musical heritage of the East, with regular concerts, teaching and appreciation classes, and mehfils (which are social events to meet other people of similar interests, and listen to some great music). This Web site is part of the Institute service to provide the information about AIEM activities, and about Eastern music in general. |
Pandit Ashok Roy We are sad to announce the passing of Pt Ashok Roy on Thursday, 15 Feb 2007. Pt Ashok Roy, through his musical genius, an all encompassing love of music, transformed the musical landscape of Australia. Had it not been for his poor health since 1995, there was so much more he could have done. We greatly miss him for what he has done for all of us, and honour him not just for his music but his spirit. It was a great priviledge to know him.
